Someone named 'Captain Jack Sparrow' ran for election in the United States

Finally a candidate we can believe in.

THE US MIDTERM elections took place yesterday, which saw the Republicans capture control of both the Senate and House of Representatives.

You would therefore be forgiven for thinking that swing states were at the heart of the drama last night. Unfortunately there you would be wrong.

The real drama was unfolding in Hannepin County where a gentleman named Captain Jack Sparrow was one of two candidates vying for the role of County Commissioner.

Captain Jack Sparrow was facing off against the incumbent County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin, a fellow independent, for the position.

According to Gawker, Captain Jack Sparrow is a local activist who went to court to legally change his name to Captain Jack Sparrow. And does his appearance live up to his name? You betcha.
